UPDATE:

Team Vicious re-signs with Empire Paintball for 2012

Sewell, NJ, January 20, 2012, Empire Paintball- Empire Paintball announces the re-signing of Team Vicious for the 2012 season.Empire Paintball announced today that they will continue their relationship with Team Vicious for the 2012 season.

Empire Paintball is very happy to have Team VICIOUS back again this year. We are excited to watch them build upon the momentum they had at the end of last season and we know that 2012 is going to be a rewarding year for the guys”, says Johnny Postorivo, Vice President of U.S. Sales at Empire Paintball.

Coming off of their top fourth place finish at the 2011 PSP World Cup, the team is anxious to get the season underway and make their mark on the playing field.  VICIOUS will continue to wear the E-Vent Goggle System, use the Empire Prophecy Z2 Loader, and wear the Empire Contact ZERO Pants at all PSP tournaments in 2012. VICIOUS player Trevor Resar states, “The Empire Contact ZERO pants are the best pants I’ve ever worn. They’re super light and durable for tournament play.”

In addition to using Empire soft and hard goods, Team VICIOUS will continue to shoot Empire paintballs, including Ultra Evil.  Vicious Captain, Zak Sherman says, “Ultra Evil is the best paint available today hands down. Evil has been the top paintball as long as I have been playing, and the great shell and super thick fill are always on point.”

Starting as Data Support Systems (DSS) in 2006 PSP Division 3, the original members of the team consisted of: Bryan Bortol, Christopher Hooker, Mac Moriarty, Paul Naylon, Parker Rosenthal, Zak Sherman, and Josh Voss. Coached by Greg Pauley and backed by Karen and Carl Bortol, DSS played their first event at World Cup in 2005. The team came in 5th place, getting knocked out of the tournament by San Diego Aftermath, who went on to win the event.

The core players continued on into 2006, playing Division 3 in the PSP league. The team started off well, taking 2nd place at the Las Vegas Open and also went on to win the PSP SoCal Open held in San Bernardino as well as the Division 3 X-Ball Series Champions Title for the 2006 season.

In 2007, it was decided that DSS would now play as VICIOUS along with making the move to  Division 2 X-Ball. Because of this division move Greg Pauley was now able to both coach and play on the team. VICIOUS proved to be successful in their second season by winning Division 2 Xball at the 2007 PSP Chicago Open and once again found themselves the 2007 Series Champions in D2 X-Ball.

In 2008, VICIOUS moved up to Division 1 in the PSP. Rivalries proved to be prominent early on in the season. VICIOUS did well in their third season but their glory did not come until the PSP World Cup. VICIOUS fought their way to the finals and came out victorious as the 2008 D1 World Cup Champions. VICIOUS was also able to finish as Runner-Up in the series standings for D1 X-Ball. Shortly after World Cup, VICIOUS went on to take 2nd in Semi Pro at the 2008 NPPL Commander’s Cup. This was an accomplishment as well because VICIOUS usually does not play the 7 man format.

Moving up to Semi-Pro for the 2009 season, VICIOUS finished in the top four in the first three PSP tournaments. They also finished fourth in the USPL Huntington Beach Event in the Semi-Pro Division. At the PSP World Cup in Lakeland, FL VICIOUS was able to win once again, defeating San Diego Aftermath in a best 2 of 3 format to remain World Cup Champions.

In 2010, VICIOUS has made the jump into the Pro ranks of the PSP, continuing their trend of advancing through the ranks each year, continually improving and striving to be the best.

Team Vicious has a lot of passion for the game and with their rookie year behind them, many have high expectations of them. The announcement on January 27, 2011 that Empire Paintball will continue its sponsorship with the team, clearly shows to the paintball world that with a combination of their talent, coaching, and solid support system, they are poised to set new standards for 2011. Team VICIOUS is the first Empire Paintball Pro team announcement for 2011. With more announcements on the horizon, Empire Paintball again looks to create a dominant presence on the professional paintball circuit
